Given Bill Evans' consistently outstanding back catalogue, his first album cannot even be considered one of the top ten, still I find New Jazz Conceptions fairly interesting, as it gives us a great opportunity to look at an exceptional artist seeking his identity, trying out a variety of styles and, well, rocking like there's no tomorrow.
